Welcome to MEA's Construction Questionnaire!
This tool will ask you a series of questions to identify what type of project you qualify for and, where applicable, will provide a rough estimate of what it may cost to have single-phase electric service brought to your property. If you are requesting residential service modification, a cost reference table is also provided. All other service requests (commercial and subdivision) will require an application to be initiated for cost estimate.
Please understand the generated estimate will NOT account for varying terrain, fluctuations in elevation, permitting requirements, etc., all of which may impact the cost. In many cases, the most direct route may not be possible for a variety of technical reasons. If you decide to move forward with a work order, an Engineering Technician will be assigned to develop a detailed project estimate which incorporates these factors.
Click NEXT to continue to the Construction Questionnaire.
NOTE: You may proceed with the below questions to obtain a free estimate however, you will be unable to begin a work order until you have completed the purchase of the property or have the legal authority to make changes to the property.
Equipment color and labeling may vary.
Underground transformers and junction boxes look very similar. Transformers should have a 4-digit identifier (e.g. 32PD highlighted in the photo below), while junction boxes do not.
DISCLAIMER: Do NOT attempt to touch or open the equipment as it is energized.
If you are ready to start the process to extend electricity to a Subdivision click/tap the Subdivision Application button below. At the time of your application you will be required to pay an Engineering Advance calculated based on the number of lots.
If you are looking for information on bringing electric service to a new Subdivision but are not yet ready to start the process, go to our Constructing Service for a Subdivision page.
The online application is limited to new subdivisions of 85 lots or fewer. If you are applying for a new subdivision with more than 85 lots, please contact Member Services at 907-761-9300 or visit one of our district offices listed below.

The NSA is a predetermined amount of money to extend service to any member in good standing who makes an application for permanent service. Reference Rule 4.01 of the MEA Tariff for further information on requirements for permanent service.

The table below provides rough estimates of what it may cost for modifications of existing service.
Please understand these estimates do not account for varying terrain, fluctuations in elevation, permitting requirements, etc., all of which may impact the cost of modifying your existing service. In many cases, the most direct route may not be possible for a variety of technical reasons. If you decide to move forward with a work order, an Engineering Technician will be assigned to develop a more concrete estimate which incorporates these factors.
This table is intended for residential members and some small business owners. Members requiring three-phase electric service should consult MEA Member Service to initiate a work order.
